Copper Harbor Fat Tire Festival

The Copper Harbor Fat Tire Festival includes 24 & 14 mile cross country mountain bike races on Sunday at 2 PM over trails in Fort Wilkins Historic State Park and the Copper Harbor area, There is a preview ride on Saturday. The Junior Fat Tire Kid\'s Race is on Sunday at 12:30 PM. Live music, refreshments & good times follow the awards presentation in Grant Township Park on US-41 in Copper Harbor, so plan on spending the night! A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum
 
One of the finest collections of minerals in North America is on display at The Mineral Museum of Michigan. Be awed by the artistic beauty of nature's creations. About 8,000 mineral specimens are on display and the total collections consists of more than 30,000 specimens.

The museum features the world's best collection of crystallized native copper and native copper in crystallized calcite. Among the specimens on display are numerous examples of the finest specimen of an individual mineral species. The finest collection of North American celestite and native sulfur. Special exhibits include native silver, datolite, Lake Superior agates and greenstones (chlorastrolite- the gemstone of the state of Michigan). A well represented suite of worldwide mineral are also on display.
