One of North America’s great
mineral museums. The A.E. Seaman
Mineral Museum has the world’s
finest collection of Michigan
minerals and the largest
collection of minerals from the
Great Lakes region on public
display. The museum also
exhibits outstanding minerals
from around the world and has
one of the best fluorescent
mineral exhibits in the United
States. The museum is designated
as the official Mineral Museum
of Michigan. Experience the
splendor and beauty of natural
art – minerals.
The museum
features the world’s best
collection of minerals from the
Keweenaw including crystallized
native copper, native copper in
crystallized calcite, native
silver, and
datolite. Among
specimens on display is arguably
the world’s best specimen of
crystallized native copper.
Greenstone (chlorastrolite),
the gemstone of Michigan, and
Lake Superior agates are on
display. Visit the museum to
learn
about the geology of the
Keweenaw and its minerals.
